SEVERE WEATHER NOTICE: SCCPSS Shifts to Remote Schedules due to Potentially Dangerous Weather Conditions
Due to the forecasted severe weather on Thursday, March 18, 2021, that could bring significant thunderstorm activity with damaging winds, threat of tornadoes, and power outages, all SCCPSS facilities will be closed tomorrow (3/18) and all instruction will be provided virtually on a modified schedule. Because of the possibility of power outages associated with the arrival of this weather system, all virtual learning and remote work schedules will end at 12:00pm. The start times for student and staff remote schedules will remain unchanged. All athletic practices and games, as well as any after-school activities will be canceled on Thursday, March 18, 2021
All staff, excluding essential personal as identified by his/her immediate supervisor, will work remotely.
- SCCPSS will provide virtual learning for all students on 3/18/2021.
- Staff will work remotely unless instructed otherwise by his/her immediate supervisor.
- Remote schedules on this day will end at 12:00pm.
Parents and staff are encouraged to monitor the weather forecast closely and stay alert to changing conditions. As always, the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. Please visit the District’s website at sccpss.com or follow us on social media for the most current updates and information.
**The schedule change does not apply to students enrolled in a Charter school. Families with students enrolled in a Charter school should refer to their site-based school leadership for guidance.

Hello, Room 22 families!
“May the saddest day of your future be no worse than the happiest day of your past.”
With this Irish blessing, I welcome you to the first week of the last term of the school year! This upcoming week brings with it another chance for a fresh start as we begin term 4 together.
Required assignments will include:
studying for a weekly spelling quiz (Friday)
studying for a weekly vocabulary activity (Friday)
completing a reading comprehension assignment at www.readworks.org
completing a Saxon math skills maintenance assignment
working on iReady for 30 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
reading to Amira on Tuesday and Thursday (4th grade only)
attending daily zoom lessons and completing the associated followup work
We will not have school on Wednesday, March 17th as we mark Savannah’s most lively holiday, St. Patrick’s Day!
Finally, it is time once again for parent/teacher/student conferences! Please use the following link to choose a day to meet virtually and talk about all the wonderful things we’ve done over the past few months together: https://signup.com/go/RTsTebA.

Hello, Room 22 families!
I can’t express to you how wonderful it is to have students back in the classroom! Procedures and worktimes are quite different, but simply having face-to-face interactions makes for a joyous day! I continue to ask for your patience as I navigate the logistics of delivering lessons to three cohorts of students. If you have any questions or concerns as we figure this out together, please email me at email@example.com or send me a Remind or Itslearning message.
This upcoming week be on the lookout for your child’s “regularly scheduled” required assignments to be shared on Itslearning. These include: daily lesson followup works, a ReadWorks comprehension activity, and a Saxon work. All students are expected to spend at least 30 minutes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on iReady. 4th graders should read at least one story on Amira on Tuesday and Thursday. Your child will get a new spelling and vocabulary list Monday. The spelling quiz and vocabulary activity is to be completed on Friday. As always, I will provide choice work suggestions in the “Announcements” section of ItsLearning for you child to complete. While not required, these choice works are a great supplement to the curriculum and can be a lot of fun, too! We will be following the Zoom lesson schedule that is posted on your child’s ItsLearning calendar.
It’s going to be a beautiful weekend! Enjoy it!
