The Week of December 11, 2017

It's here: the last week of school in the year 2017!

Lessons will continue this week that include continued work with fraction computation, squaring trinomials, the economy of Australia, and current electricity.  Be sure to complete your followup works assigned after each lesson, a Greek and Latin roots choice, your weekly assignment, and the current events journal.  You will have a vocabulary quiz Friday on words from your lessons.  These words will be given to you Monday morning so you will have plenty of time to prepare.

I'm very excited for Friday!  We will be going to the Savannah Children's Theatre to enjoy some dramatic fun!  If you haven't done so, please hand in your permission slip and $8 by Wednesday.  Friday is also the day when we will exchange our gift books with our secret buddies!  Please wrap your book and bring it with you to school Friday morning.  We will do our big exchange before we meet as a school for our holiday sing-along!

The last day of term 2 is Friday, December 15th.  All second term work must be handed in before we leave for holiday break.  6th grade families, please log-on to PowerSchool to see if your child is missing any work.  If so, please have them complete it and hand it in by December, 15.  Any work not handed in by that time will receive a 0%.  All families are invited to sign up now for our second parent/teacher conference that will take place during the week of January 8th.  Simply click on the “Signup Genius” button at the upper right of this blog.  At conferences, we will discuss your child’s progress over the first half of the year, their latest MAP assessment scores, and I will answer any questions you may have.  I look forward to meeting with you once again!

Don't forget to review, sign, and return your weekly progress report Monday.

Finally, our classroom pet chinchilla, Georgia, needs a home for the holidays!  I will provide all the food and other supplies you will need to watch her.  Feel free to pick him up and return her at your convenience.  The first student who brings in written permission from a parent can take him home for the break!

Have a nice weekend,
Mr. Trent
