The Week of November 30, 2020

I trust that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and are ready to take on the final three weeks of term 2!  We will continue with our daily zoom lessons this week.  Required works will include follow-up assignments associated with each of the daily lessons, a Saxon math skills maintenance activity, a reading comprehension assignment at www.readworks.org, and a cultural assignment that will be posted Wednesday.   A new word study and vocabulary list will be posted this Thursday for a quiz and activity to complete the following Wednesday. Please study these lists daily to prepare.  As always, I’ve posted a list of choice works in the “Announcements” section of ItsLearning.  These works are NOT required, but provide some opportunities for you to extend your studies and to engage in creative endeavors.

Have a wonderful week,

Trent

The Week of November 16, 2020

As we begin our last week of school before the Thanksgiving holiday, I can’t help but think about how thankful I am to be sharing this time with you: my Ellis family.  The daily examples of partnership, patience, and persistence that I see are truly inspiring!  I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday!

I recently shared progress reports via www.transparentclassroom.com.  Please let me know if you were unable to view it. I suggest completing any missing works this week, so you can enter holiday break without any work carrying over afterwards.  You can to reach out to me via ItsLearning message if you have any questions.

Finally, I know there are many other educational activities going on at home (choice works, family field trips, etc).  Feel free to take some pictures of those activities and send them to me.  I will upload them to your Transparent Classroom portfolio so they become part of your “Ellis timeline”!

Have a nice weekend,

Trent

The Week of November 9, 2020

We’ve reached the mid-way point of term 2!  This upcoming week, I will be sending home midterm progress reports which will list your required works from the term.  You will be able to view information about completion and mastery of the skills practiced on each assignment.  Please work with your family to complete any unsubmitted works as soon as possible.

The best way to keep up-to-date with your progress is to regularly view the “Gradebook” feature on ItsLearning.  The gradebook lists the status of all of your works.  Access the gradebook by following these steps:

  1. Log into your ItsLearning account

  2. Select the “Mr. Trent’s E-Learning Class” course

  3. Select “Follow-up and Reports”

  4. Select “Gradebook”

6th graders, be sure to remind your family to log into your PowerSchool account to see grades and averages for each specific subject.  ItsLearning will only give an overall average, but you will receive a report card at the end of the term that will include averages for each subject (math, science, social studies, language arts).

If you have any questions after viewing the progress reports, ItsLearning gradebook, or (for 6th grade families, PowerSchool feel free to reach out to me via email (trent.kissinger@sccpss.com) or the Remind app.  You can also meet with me during my virtual office hours (M, T, Th, F from 7:30am-8:00am) using the Zoom link located on your ItsLearning schedule.

Have a nice weekend,

Mr. Trent
