Looking Forward to Next Week...

You've officially come to the end of the first two weeks of your independent learning days!  I hope you enjoyed completing the choices on the SCCPSS menu sheet.  We have not been given information from the county about how to submit those assignments (you were originally supposed to hand them in upon return to school this year), so just put them in a safe place until we hear what to do.

Starting next week, you will receive a weekly assignment list with choices that are aligned to our Montessori curriculum!  It will include daily required assignments as well as a reading log that will need to be submitted via Google Classroom by Friday.  These sheets will be shared with you Monday morning in Google Classroom.

In addition, we are excited to start weekly online video meetings using Zoom!

Wednesdays at 10:30 (4th w/ Marianna, 6th w/ Trent)

Fridays at 11:00 (5th w/ Marianna, 4th w/ Trent)
Fridays at 11:30 (6th w/ Marianna, 5th w/ Trent)

We will share the link and password you will need to use to join each of the meetings in Google Classroom.   You will be able to join these Zoom meetings in your browser, so you will NOT need to make an account or download any software in preparation for the meeting.

Public Schools in the state to remain closed for in-person instruction through the end of this school year.

On Wednesday, April 1, 2020, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp issued an Executive Order calling for Public Schools in the state to remain closed for in-person instruction through the end of this school year.  As a result, SCCPSS schools will now remain closed and students will continue Independent Learning through the scheduled end of the school year on May 15, 2020.

More information regarding the continuation of Independent Learning will be communicated in the coming days.  While all school buildings remain closed, the District’s Central Office and other administrative facilities are open to the public by appointment only for essential business.  Additional information will be provided to our families through the usual parent notification calls and emails, district social media accounts, SCCPSS.com, and local media.
Earlier this month, Governor Brian Kemp placed Georgia under a State of Emergency due to the spread of Coronavirus. The school District continues to maintain regular contact with the Georgia Department of Public Health, Chatham County Health Department, and the Chatham Emergency Management Agency, to monitor Coronavirus impacts in our area.

Once again, all Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools will remain closed through the end of this school year by order of the Governor.  Please make sure to check our website – www.sccpss.com, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for further updates.
