ALL SCHOOLS AND DISTRICT FACILITIES CLOSED ON SEPTEMBER 3RD AND 4TH
ALL SCHOOLS AND DISTRICT FACILITIES CLOSED ON SEPTEMBER 3 AND 4:
SCCPSS officials continue to monitor the track of Hurricane Dorian in consultation with the Chatham Emergency Management Agency and information from the National Weather Service. The current expected track of the storm is projected to bring dangerous weather conditions to our area. While we don't know at this time if Chatham County will experience the full brunt of this powerful storm, we are expecting impacts that could include heavy rain, wind and flooding. As a result, the decision has been made to close all schools and District facilities beginning Tuesday to allow our families time to prepare.
Throughout this weather event, only essential District Staff will be required to report to work as notified by his/her Supervisor. The School District will maintain regular contact with the Chatham Emergency Management Agency to monitor storm impacts and the safe return to school operations.
At this time, all schools and District facilities (including the District's Central Office located at 208 Bull Street) will be closed Tuesday, September 3, 2019 and Wednesday, September 4, 2019. Parents and Staff should monitor our communication channels for additional information regarding school operation on Thursday and Friday. The return to school date will be determined after post storm assessments and recovery efforts are conducted. Official return to school notices will be communicated through the District's call notification system, email, district website, and social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.
The 2019-20 School Year calendar includes designated make-up days in the event there is a need to make up lost instructional time. Please refer to the District's website – www.SCCPSS.com – under the “Calendars" tab to familiarize yourself with designated make-up days.
Once again, the School District will be closed on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 and Wednesday, September 4, 2019, due to the anticipated impacts associated with Hurricane Dorian. Please make sure to check our website and follow us on Facebook and Twitter for further updates.
