The Week of March 25, 2019

Welcome back from spring break!  I hope you had a refreshing time off and are ready to "ride the wave" to summer break!  

This week's lessons will include researching Jim Crow laws, exploring supply and demand economics, and identifying major world religions.  Followup from these lessons is due Friday.  Your novel studies will focus on using text talk to find details in the books you are reading.  Your weekly www.newsela.com and www.quill.org assignments have been uploaded for you to complete.  Please complete these two online works by Friday. 

On Monday, you will have a vocabulary quiz based upon the words you were given the week before spring break.  Click HERE if you need a reminder of what words were included on this list.  

This Friday, you will have a word study quiz based upon the following words:

star group
oy sound in first syllable- moisture, poison, voyage, loyal, pointed
oy sound in second syllable-avoid, annoy, employ, appoint, destroy


arrow group (NOTE: there are only 8 words in this list)
short vowel sound in second syllable- metallic, emphatic, habit, excel
schwa sound in second syllable -metal, emphasis, habitat, excellent


swirl group
str- straight, strange, stretch, strict, string
scr-screen, scrape, scream, scram, scratch
