Happy New Year! I trust you have enjoyed your holiday break and are ready to start the second half of the year at Ellis reseted and rejuvenated!
This is a short week, so we will be taking care of a few odds-and-ends before having a "normal schedule" week starting January 8th. This week we will be choosing new classroom jobs, taking the mid-year developmental spelling inventory, and participating in some culminating activities based upon the novel you have been reading. These culminating activities will include:
"Helen Keller" - Writing a Braille ABC book
"The Black Peal" & "Blizzard!" - Creating a "Quadriama" based upon scenes in the novel.
"Afternoon of the Elves" - Building your own elf village using found objects.
"The Little Prince" Creating an additional planet for the Little Prince to visit on his journeys.
You will not have a current event journal this week. You will also be excused from taking a spelling or vocabulary quiz. Please do complete your 30 minutes of www.tenmarks.com practice, as well as your nightly homework of reading for at least 20 minutes.
Please click HERE to sign up for term 2 parent/teacher conferences. I look forward to speaking to all of you about the awesome things going on at Ellis.
Finally, please bring your signed progress report to school tomorrow.
Have a great last day of break!
