School Closed Friday, September 8th.

Due to the approaching severe weather conditions associated with Hurricane Irma, there will be no school for students on Friday, September 8, 2017.

·        School-Based staff members will not be required to report to work Friday (TOMORROW) unless deemed essential staff by his or her supervisor. School buildings will be closed and secured in preparation for the storm.  

·        Central Office and Non-School Based staff will not be required to report to work Friday (TOMORROW) unless deemed essential staff by his or her supervisor.  Central systems and other administrative facilities will be secured in preparation for the storm.

Employee pay will not be interrupted during this emergency weather event.

Based on current information from the National Weather Service and the Chatham Emergency Management Agency, storm impacts could bring dangerous flooding, rain, heavy winds and power outages to our area late this weekend and into Monday evening. Governor Nathan Deal has placed our county under a State of Emergency. 

The school District will maintain regular contact with the Chatham Emergency Management Agency to monitor storm impacts and the safe return to school operations, which at this time, is not expected to occur for the school district before Wednesday, September 13th.  Official return to work notices will be communicated through the call notification system, district website, and employee email. 

Updates will be provided throughout the emergency event and return to work notices will be provided with at least a 48 hour notice.

The 2017-18 School Year calendar includes designated make up days in the event there is a need to make up lost instructional time. Those days include: November 20 and 21; February 19 and 20; and March 26.  Please refer to the District’s website on the “School Calendar tab” (or see attached) to further familiarize yourself with designated make up days.

Once again, there will be no school on Friday due to the anticipated impacts associated with Hurricane Irma.  For any questions regarding time off during emergency outage please call the District’s Human Resources Office at 912-395-5899.

Today (Thursday, September 7) remains a regular school day with no changes to school operations.

CLARIFICATION: 

At this time, there is no school on the following days:

·        FRIDAY, SEPT. 8
·        MONDAY, SEPT. 11
·        TUESDAY, SEPT 12

Official return to work notices, will be communicated through the call notification system, district website, and employee email. Refer to the information listed below regarding the workday (tomorrow) Friday, September 8.
